| Congregation Tifereth Israel was founded in 1922 by Sephardic families in the Peabody/Salem area who had recently come to the US primarily from Turkey. Through a strong commitment to their synagogue, their descendants have for over 87 years continued the Sephardic traditions and melodies the founders brought to this country. CTI counts Ashkenazic as well as Sephardic Jews among its members who take pride in a sense of history going back hundreds of years.. |
